If you’re looking to pack a tent cot on your next camping adventure, you have plenty of options to choose from. That being said, out of the dozens of different cot tents on the market today, one stands out above the rest: the Winterial Tent Cot.

Manufactured by Winterial, a California-based gear company that’s known for prioritizing affordability, this double outdoor tent cot is a popular choice among avid outdoor enthusiasts. Although the Winterial Double Outdoor Tent Cot is currently the only cot in the company’s line-up of gear, Winterial is also known for producing a wide range of different tents, sleeping bags, snowshoes, and outdoor travel accessories.

This model is Winterial’s first foray into the world of tent cots, though it’s already taken the outdoor gear world by storm, thanks to its durability and overall versatility at the campground. As a result, the Winterial Tent Cot is a fantastic choice if weather-resistance, comfort, and ease of use are some of your top priorities when it comes to camping gear.

Up next, we’ll walk you through the basics of this tent cot in this Winterial Tent Cot review to help you decide if it’s the right model for your needs.

Highlights & Recommendations

  • Durability & Weather Resistance. Thanks to its burly 420D ripstop nylon exterior, this cot is able to withstand moderate snow and high wind.
  • Comfort. Boasting enough space for 2 adults, as well as a high ceiling height, this cot is a comfy choice for outdoor adventures.
  • Ease Of Set-Up. Crafted specifically with ease of use in mind, this model can be pitched in just a few minutes using its pre-attached pole system.
  • Breathability. This cot features large screen windows and doors to ensure plentiful airflow and ventilation at night.

Best For

  • 4 Season Camping. As one of the few tent cots on the market that’s durable enough to withstand snow and wind, it’s a great choice for use all year long.
  • Campground Trips. Since the Winterial 2 Person Tent Cot is fairly heavy, it’s best for use in a campground or roadside environment.
  • Adventurous Couples. The Winterial Double Outdoor Camping 2-Person Tent Cot is spacious enough to comfortably fit 2 adults, so it’s a nice, easy-to-set-up option for adventurous couples.

Not Great For

  • Backpacking. The Winterial Double Tent Cot’s heavy weight and bulky packed size mean that it’s not quite appropriate for use in the backcountry.
  • Family Camping. This cot is large enough just for 2 adults, but it won’t accommodate families or small groups.

Detailed Winterial Tent Cot Review

The Winterial Tent Cot is a popular choice among campers. But, is it right for your needs? In this section, we’ll take a close-up look at the ins and outs of this double tent cot to help you decide if it’s the perfect choice for your camping adventures.

Durability & Weather-Resistance

Perhaps the biggest advantage over other similar options on the market is its durability and weather-resistance.

Winterial designed this cot with heavy-duty 420D ripstop nylon fabric throughout, which is fully sealed against the elements to help keep you dry when the weather doesn’t want to cooperate. The fabric used to make this tent cot is also particularly durable in the wind, so it’s a nice choice for use all year long.

If that wasn’t enough, Winterial built their double tent cot with a sturdy aluminum frame, which is strong enough to support up to 500 lbs (226.8 kg) of weight. Although the extra durable materials used to make this frame mean that the Winterial Tent Cot is a bit heavier than you might expect, it’s still well within reason for a double tent cot.

As far as comfort goes, the Winterial Tent Cot doesn’t disappoint. In addition to providing more than enough space for 2 adults in its 85x46x41-inch (215.9x116.8x104.1 cm) frame, this tent cot offers plenty of headspace, courtesy of its domed roof design.

As a result, most campers find that they can sit fully upright inside the tent for maximum comfort while hanging out in camp.

Taking comfort a step further, Winterial also engineered this tent cot with an integrated foam pad on top of the cot’s top fabric. This extra foam pad eliminates the need to pack a secondary sleeping pad for comfort on all but the coldest of nights in the great outdoors.

Finally, the cot’s two large mesh windows and screen doors allow for plenty of breathability on hot, muggy nights for added comfort while you snooze. If it’s really nice outside, you can even configure this tent cot so that you have a large opening over the front door for extra airflow throughout the night.

In the world of double tent cots, the Winterial Tent Cot is among the lightest options available, at 45lbs (20.4kg). It’s also fairly compact, as far as double cot tents go, packing down to 48.5x33.5x8 inches (123.2x85.1x20.3 cm) when stored.

As a result, it’s a solid choice for campers that don’t want to lug large amounts of gear from their car to their camping area when they arrive at the campground.

However, a 45lb (20.4kg) cot tent isn’t exactly functional for backpacking and more remote adventures. Therefore, this tent is best used in car camping situations, where you don’t expect to have to carry your gear more than a few hundred feet to your campsite.

That being said, if you’re interested in a tent cot for backpacking, there are plenty of other options for you to choose from, instead.

Breathability is of the utmost importance for any camping shelter and the Winterial Tent Cot doesn’t disappoint.

It boasts a set of two large mesh windows and double screen doors, which allow for ample airflow on hot, muggy summer’s days. These windows and doors are made from standard no-see-um mesh netting, providing you with plenty of ventilation without sacrificing your bug protection at night.

Even better, since each of these windows and doors comes with its own zippered nylon fabric panels, you can quickly close them should you start to get cold or if it begins to rain while you’re in camp.

Ease Of Set-Up

The final feature of note with the Winterial Tent Cot is its ease of set up. Since this tent cot comes with a set of pre-attached structural poles, the pitching process is about as easy as it gets.

To set up this tent, you simply need to fold open the cot, pop open the main structural poles, and then insert the two foldable poles to assemble the dome-style roof. When that’s done, you just need to anchor down the Winterial Double Tent Cot to give it more durability in the wind.

Tent Cot FAQ

A tent cot is a major investment. Therefore, it’s critical that you come prepared with all the information you need to make an educated decision about whether the Winterial Tent Cot is right for you.

So, here are our answers to some of your top questions about the Winterial Double Tent Cot.

Is The Winterial Tent Cot Good For Winter Camping?

Thanks to its durable exterior fabric, sturdy frame, and waterproof rainfly, the Winterial Tent Cot is a nice choice for campground winter camping trips.

However, this tent cot isn’t meant to be used in extreme conditions, such as in places with very heavy snowpack or exceptionally high wind, so it’s best for winter camping in light snow.

Do You Need To Use A Sleeping Pad With The Winterial Tent Cot?

While we generally recommend that campers place a sleeping pad on top of their cots, doing so isn’t necessary with the Winterial Tent Cot unless you expect particularly cold conditions. That’s because this model comes complete with its own built-in foam pad, which provides a decent amount of padding and comfort as you snooze.

With that in mind, if you plan to camp with this tent cot in very cold environments, we’d recommend bringing a small air mattress or sleeping pad with you to help you stay warm on chilly nights.

How Many People Can Sleep In The Winterial Tent Cot?

The Winterial Tent Cot is designed to sleep 2 adults inside its spacious interior. While the tent cot does provide more than enough room for 2 adults, however, it’s not quite big enough to fit 2 adults and a child.

So, if you’re looking to camp with your family, you might want to consider getting a second tent cot as a separate sleeping space for the kiddos.

If you’re on the lookout for a double camping cot that can keep you warm, dry, and comfortable all year long, the Winterial Tent Cot just might be what you need. Thanks to its durable construction, weatherproof exterior, and comfortable sleeping space, this tent cot is one of the best in the business.
